Singosari Temple - A Brief History

Singasari Temple is a holy temple (catya)
which proposed for Krtanagara dharma
(divinity procession to the God) site, King Krtanagara were also the last ruler
of Singasari kingdom (1268-1292 AD). Krtanagara is the king who estabilish the
politict of Persatuan Nusantara
(Nusantara Unity) then be continued by Gajahmada. Singasari Temple built during
the rule of Tribhuwanatunggadewi of Majapahit empire.
Singasari Temple were found at 1803 with only remaining stone and mostly
of the temple physique were damaged. The debris of remaining stone is being
restored by Dutch-Indies Archeology Department around 1934-1937 (Indonesia
National Library, 2018).
Singasari Temple is functioned for remembering the glory and
how great is King Krtanagara ruled across the entire kingdom. King Krtanegara
believe in Buddhis Tantrayana gospel despite his remains arca (statue) which being found around the temple shown the strong
existence of Siva with Tantrisism course. Within the temple own structure also
from the part of Gajahmada’s prasasti
(inscription) its mentioned about “…the
Highness is already become one with Siva-Buddhism” it is concluded that
Singasari temple is believed as Siva-Buddhism course (Sedyawati, 2013:298-300;
Muljana, 1983).
